Cryptography

Cryptography is the practice of securing information through the use of encryption and other cryptographic techniques.

Cryptography is the process of converting plaintext (unencrypted data) into ciphertext (encrypted data) using algorithms and cryptographic keys. Cryptography plays a crucial role in securing sensitive data transmitted between connected devices, networks, and servers. One common use of cryptography in IoT is to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data transmitted over the internet. For example, SSL/TLS protocols use cryptographic techniques to encrypt data transmitted between a device and a server, protecting against eavesdropping and tampering. Similarly, encryption can be used to secure data stored on devices or servers, making it unreadable to unauthorized users in the event of a security breach.Cryptography is also used for authentication and authorization purposes in IoT. Digital certificates, which rely on cryptographic algorithms, are used to verify the identity of devices and servers, ensuring that only authorized devices can access the network. Cryptography is also used to create digital signatures, which can be used to verify the authenticity and integrity of data, such as firmware updates or sensor readings.
